Hello, I’m Logan French.
Sometimes, I go by Log.
I am a designer.
I love to design. Design is, in a way, to provide for others a system or idea that they need that does not yet exist for them. My special focus, within my designs, is accessibility for people with disabilities. In my youth, I volunteered at Respite Care every month for three years. There, I spent time being a care taker for children with a wide range of disabilities; from autism to deafness. Within this experience, it broaden my awareness to how difficult the current built environment can be for those who need help.
I am an explorer.
I love to travel. The experience of being a tourist, by interacting with locals and exploring a new place, is always exciting. I absorb my surroundings, especially in the sense of analyzing the different design techniques of the world. From Yellowstone National Park and its surrounding sustainable architecture choices to ensure the picturesque nature of the park, to the bustling city of Chicago, Il with it’s exceeding abilities to build higher even when the environment is fighting it with wind and cold air, and then all the way to Copenhagen, Denmark where the preservation of historical architecture is in heated discussion with the expanding city and ever-changing design.
I am a visionary.
With my special interests in design philosophy and art philosophy, I have a great appreciation for the arts. Specifically, the artistic impact of design on society. My favorite philosophical pieces I’ve read are “Critique of Pure Reason”, by Immanuel Kant, “What Is Art?”, by Leo Tolstoy, and “Cartesian Meditations”, by Edmund Husserl.
I was once selected to present at the 97th AAS Annual Meeting, Alabama Academy of Science (AAS) Abstract, for my writing submission on my philosophical understandings of what makes an object art.
